Just put a hot cup of coffee on my desk every morning … (by: Karyl)

Is this the alternative to going postal? Or blue screening at the office? I like it!!!!!! Day after day … mile after mile of withdrawal from the rat race … beautiful scenary … or not … but it’s not a cubicle farm. Even if it’s raining and thundering, it’s not staring at a fabric covered fake wall listening the jerkwad next door sniffle all day long or sneak farts out when he thinks nobody is watching.

Creativity at it’s best. An escape plan with adventure at a snails pace. Live for the moment, and leave the rest behind.

I made the Segway my “Thing” a back when it was rumored on 60 Minutes. I made a bet with a friend I could meet Dean Kamen and the team from the company.

Later I ended up becoming VP of SegAmerica.org, the Segway Enthusiasts Group of America. How fitting that I met Josh and Hunter in Bedford during a SegwayFest and had the pleasure of seeing the pre-screening. I’m showing this great video to many friends and family. It’s not so much about the Segway…It’s all about the people you meet on the way. 10MPH brought the experience to life.

Speed Up, Slow Down (by: Valerie)

I’ve been reading a lot about quality of life and slowing down. I can’t wait to see this movie. I guess Segways can help you be more efficient (like the police departments who re using them) or help you slow down a little and enjoy life–and quit relying on gas. Nice.

My Peculiar Hobby (by: Bob - Pacific City, OR)

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

For reasons I can’t exactly explain, I enjoy hoaxing the media occasionally. As a boy, I was intrigued by the notion that one could simply make up a story and get it in the newspaper or on the TV news. One of my boyhood heroes was Alan Abel, a well-known media hoaxer who has since become a friend.

I know a lot of people would find this an odd choice of avocation but that’s how I look at something like stamp collecting. I just can’t see what interests people in that. At least with MY “hobby,” I have press clippings and videotape of myself I can look at and show to my kids.

To date, I have been seen on the Today Show, Good Morning, America, Oprah, Lie Detector and many other local and national TV shows. I have also been written about in Time, Life and People magazines, along with U.S. News and World Report, USA Today (several times) and just about every major newspaper in America. Not bad for a guy you *think* you’ve never heard of, huh?

homeschooling (by: Kathy - Buchanan, MI)

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

I’ve been homeschooling my kids for 15 years now. The oldest two are in college. We absolutely love it, and now I’m working on setting up a partnership with a local school - trying to get homeschoolers and the public schools to respect each other’s educational choices and work together.

Josh, Hunter, and the crew stopped here for an afternoon when they were passing through western Michigan. The kids had a blast trying out the Segways. Great Chinese food for dinner! We’re all looking forward to seeing the final product.

Golf With A Segway (by: William)

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

My “thing” is buzzing around our Country Club golf course on a X2Golf Segway. Always attracting attention and curious folks who want to know how it works and ,the always ending “How Much Does It Cost?”.

I enjoy the attention but most of all the ease in getting around the golf course. Even the most demanding hills, some taking on a slant.

I appear to be an only rider. None have stepped up and purchased one for themselves.
