My Segway, The Muse and My Thing (by: Mitchell)

Monday, August 27th, 2007

To Songwriters and artists who can relate,

With much surprise and bemusement, I have found the Segway ride to be a muse for musical creativity and even a marketing vehicle to boot.

While riding on my XT on trails and isolated paths, I have found a relaxation space created in my mind that has equaled the creatitive state of mind that exists when I do most of my successful songwriting.

This state used to be exclusively that small window between going to bed and starting to fall asleep; a perfect combination of state of mind in which songs flow into my conscientious. I would have to wake up and sing into a personal recording device to save “the song” before it disappeared.

I now find while riding the segway, that same state of mind is created. I don’t know why, but I carry my recording device with me at all times and have written a useful lyric, hook or complete song almost 80% of the time I am out joy riding with my XT.

At parks and bikeways, I often tastfully use the segway and the attention it gets to advertise the band or a current engagement/venue on the bag or frame. An unintended benefit to my segway.

Who would have thought a few gyro’s, wheels and battery pack would provide transportation, fun, business opportunities and most important productive creativitity.
Most impressive!!!!!

Gulf Breeze to Austin (by Hunter)

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

As we drive into New Orleans (just to grab some beignets), I’ve got a quick chance to reflect on this incredible experience. Last night Gulf Breeze was a treat. We honestly didn’t expect much of an audience, but it seems word of mouth, the help of Segway of South Coast, and a little press, we had a pretty full house. This follows a sold-out show from the night before in Wilmington, NC. There we had help from Cape Fear Segway and loved cruising the haunted boardwalk at night with Richard. People are digging this flick and I couldn’t be happier with the response. Tonight we’re in Austin! Yee-haw!

Doing my thing (by: Tracy - Newbern, TN)

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

Right now, my thing is being the mom of a senior in high school and the office manager for a prosthetist/orthotist. Both tasks keep me very busy. Last year, I took my (then) 16 year old daughter to DisneyWorld and we tested the Segway at EPCOT. We fell in love with this personal transport. It is absolutely fantastic! I haven’t seen the movie yet, but will definitely keep it in mind.

Riding our Segways (by: Kathie - Fayetteville, NC)

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

My husband and I have Segways. My husband belongs to the Sudan Shrine “Suits”. They dress up like the Blues Brothers, and ride their Segways in parades. They are on a mission from God to raise funds for the Shrine hospitals. The wives of the group and are called the “Skirts”. We also raise funds to help the Suits to be able to donate money to the Shrine hospitals. When we are not in a parade we just like to get together as a group and ride the nature trial or go down town to the local festivals and just ride to have fun. There are eleven of us at this time, but we are looking to growing and adding more people and Segways to our group.
